The Corporate Information Management Unit (CIMU) operates a records management service
for the County Council. This involves the storage, management and retrieval of files on behalf of all
Council employees, and guidance on how to look after electronic records. As well as three secure storage
rooms, the unit has links with an offsite storage company, where boxes are stored which need to be kept
for a longer period of time. The unit is responsible for the Council's Disposal Schedule, ensuring that
the right information is kept in the right place for the right length of time. CIMU is also the coordinator
for Information Legislation requests, including Freedom of Information and Data Protection.
While
we are happy to answer any general enquiries on any of these areas, CIMU is primarily a service for
internal County Council staff so we are unable to receive any outside visitors.
