In December 2004 Worcestershire County Council received an ‘Excellent’ Comprehensive Performance Assessment ranking. Notwithstanding, Worcestershire remains one of the lowest spending of all County Councils and this has been a barrier to achieving our full potential. Nevertheless, we strive to achieve high performance within the resources we have available.

Planning to achieve efficiency is not a new phenomenon to Worcestershire County Council.  Our medium term financial planning framework has consistently recognised the importance of increasing cost efficiency, value for money and raising productivity.  In the seven years to 31 March 2005 Worcestershire’s efficiency gain is over £70 millions.
