Going Green with Real Nappies
Just switching to Real Nappies doesn't make you an eco-warrior! Follow these tips to improve your 'Greenness' and minimise the impact your childs nappies have on the environment
- Wash nappies at 60oC and wraps at 40oC – do not boil wash, they simply don't need it
- Use A-rated appliances to reduce energy & water consumption
- Minimise tumble drying – line dry or use an airer when the weather is good
- Don’t use fabric conditioner – it is unnecessary and it reduces absorbency which reduces the comfort for your baby
- Use eco-friendly washing powders that do not harm the environment
- Try potty training early around 2 yrs of age - the sooner the better
- Use real nappies for more than one child - you can keep them for your next child or pass them on to a friend or family member for their children to use
- Buy second hand nappies where possible - they are just as hygenic as new ones
- Use organic (non-bleached) products
- Don’t iron nappies, it reduces absorbency, and your child won't mind the un-ironed look!
