Mayor Opens New Telecare Show Flat![]()
The Mayor of Redditch cut the ribbon in August on a Church Hill flat which showcases how technology can help older people to remain independent in their own homes and in sheltered accommodation.
Councillor David Hunt officially opened the Telecare Assistive Technology show flat in Mendip House, Loxley Close. Guests were invited to view the flat, which is equipped with the latest aids and sensors for assisting independent living. These include the Lifeline unit & pendant, movement sensors, flood detector sensors, extreme temperature sensors, bed/chair occupancy sensors and fire detectors.
Ruth Griffin, Control Centre Manager for the Council’s Lifeline Team, said: "The aim of the flat is to show older people and those who work with them just what technology is available to help people remain in their own homes"
"It is also a chance for us to show anyone who might want or need to move into a sheltered scheme what the Council can offer."
"There will be an appointment system for viewing the show flat. Anyone wishing to book one should call the Council on (01527) 64252 extension 3316"
"Telecare Solutions and Lifestyles is the new name for Lifeline. Lifeline is a service which enables people to be independent in their own homes. It is a telephone support service, run by Redditch Borough Council. The service is available 24 hours per day for 365 days of the year"
