How much will it cost me?

There are two parts to the cost of Telecare:

  1. The cost of the Telecare equipment, its installation and maintenance, which is provided free of charge.  This cost is met by Adult and Community Services as the Telecare equipment is provided on a loan basis and remains the property of the council.
  2. The weekly service charge for the call handling is £1. This will be charged as part of the contract you will have with the Monitoring and Reponse Centre.

If service users receive other services as well as Telecare, such as home care, the weekly service charge for Telecare will be added to the cost of other services like home care so the council knows how much all care will cost. A Fairer Charging financial assessment will then be carried out. This will look at your finances and work out how much you will be expected to pay towards the cost of the care. The amount paid will include a contribution to the cost of the Telecare service charge.
