The Freedom of Information Act 2000
On 1st January 2005, the general public was given the right to request to see information held by public authorities under the above Act.
Worcestershire Record Office makes most of its records available, but closes some of its records for a period of time. This may be to protect personal data or commercial confidentiality, amongst other sensitive reasons.
If you would like to see any records that are currently closed, the Freedom of Information Act (FoI) provides you with a route to make an application. Please complete the FoI Form (available from searchroom staff or online). We can then assess your application against the exemptions in the Act, within the legal time period. We have 20 working days to deal with FoI requests, but we are able to take longer for particularly difficult decisions where we need to assess the public interest. We will also need to assess the condition of the document if any copies are requested.
We would like to make as much information as possible accessible to you, whilst also protecting personal and confidential information appropriately.
If you would like to request information held by another part of Worcestershire County Council, please contact the FoI Officer on 01905 728544 for more details.
