The population of Worcestershire is diverse. While some communities are well established, others, for example people who came to the UK after the Accession 8 countries (Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Hungary) joined the European Union in May 2004, will be newer.
It is essential that we have a sound understanding of all of our communities and their needs, to ensure that we, and partners, are able to provide appropriate advice and support to all who need it.
At the same time it is crucial that we support efforts to promote social cohesion by providing a sound evidence base for making informed judgments.
In order to achieve these aims, we have created these pages to draw together information related to both established and emerging communities, and to signpost to other relevant work.
No single dataset exists to allow us to directly count the number of overseas nationals in Worcestershire at any given time. Neither is it possible, from these data sources, to identify whether individual communities are in need of targeted support in terms of information about employment, housing, education or health services.
It is therefore essential, that the information contained within these pages is combined with local knowledge and that anyone who uses the data in this section reads, understands and acknowledges the notes and warnings which accompany the data.
