Economic Activity
Economic Activity Rates provide a measure of the proportion of the population who are either active, or potentially active, members of the labour market.
It includes those who are:
- in employment
- on Government supported employment/training programmes
- unemployed but actively seeking work
A low activity rate indicates a high proportion of people who are, either by choice or circumstance, unavailable for work or training.
