The Strategy & Policy and Regeneration Team are responsible for the development and implementation of policies regarding economic regeneration in the county. The team aims to ensure that the economic activities of the Council and its partners are based on a good understanding of the needs of Worcestershire and have been agreed in consultation and collaboration with local communities and partnerships.
By developing strategic plans for the county, such as "An Economic Strategy for Worcestershire 2004 - 2014" and Worcestershire Partnership's Rural Action Plan their principal role is to highlight areas for priority action. This includes, amongst other things, identifying communities within the County with high levels of deprivation and sectors of the economy under threat or experiencing difficulties. It also includes identifying the key opportunities for economic growth and makes sure that regional, national and international policies are related to the needs of Worcestershire.
From developing these strategic plans, the team works with others to implement the main recommendations. This means working closely with colleagues in the public sector as well as businesses and the voluntary and community sectors.
