Key Issues CPA 2004

What is Comprehensive Performance Assessment?   

• it is a central government initiative to measure overall performance and produce league tables.  
• it is designed to promote improvement.  
• it will categorise all top tier authorities by the end of 2002 and District councils during 2003.

The categorisation will have an impact on the Council, it will affect the freedoms and flexibilities we are given to deliver services. It will have a direct impact on the status of the Council in the eyes of the customers to whom we deliver services and to the staff.  

All staff and members will be directly affected.  It is in all our best interests to show Worcestershire County Council in an accurate and positive light, to demonstrate how much progress we have made and how far we intend to keep going.

What was the result?

In August 2004 we were reassessed . Our Corporate Reassessment once again maintained our 'Good' category

Then in December 2004 our Service Scores were assessed and combined with the August Corporate score our overall score moved to

'Excellent'
