Conservation Areas
Malvern Hills District currently has 21 Conservation Areas.
*Conservation Area Booklets exist for these areas. Each booklet includes an A3 map showing the extent of the Conservation Area boundary. In addition, a brief history of the area is included along with reference to the architectural styles and a summary of the Planning regulations and polices which apply specifically to Conservation Areas. Copies of these booklets are available from Customer Services priced £5. Conservation Area Review and AppraisalThe conservation section has embarked upon a programme of reviewing the boundaries of some of the conservation areas and, at the same time an appraisal will be carried out. Every local authority is obliged to undertake this work under the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990 The purpose of the review and appraisal is to:
Tenbury Wells Conservation Area AppraisalFollowing the meeting of the Planning Commitee on 17th April, the following documents have now been approved; Conservation Area Advertisements will be placed in the local newspapers and in the London Gazette to advertise the fact. English Heritage and the DCMS will also be informed. Upton-upon-Severn Conservation Area AppraisalFollowing the meeting of the Planning Committee on 17th April, the following documents were approved; Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Strategy Advertisements will be placed in the local newspapers and in the London Gazette to advertise the fact. English Heritage and the DCMS will also be informed. Kempsey Conservation Area AppraisalFollowing the meeting of the Planning Committee on 17th April , further changes are proposed to the revised Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Strategy and to the modified boundary map Further information will be provided in due course. Great Malvern Conservation Area AppraisalFollowing the meeting of the Planning Committee on 17th April the following documents have now been approved;
Advertisements will be placed in the local newspapers and in the London Gazette to advertise the fact. English Heritage and the DCMS will be informed. Advice on proposed new development, demolition, alterations or extensions is given by Officers without prejudice to the determination of that application by the Council's elected members.
