We work out the Business Rates payable by multiplying the rateable value of the property by the multiplier or "poundage" which the Government sets from 1st April each year for the whole of England.
The bill is then adjusted for any transitional relief or other reductions which may apply

These calculations will show on your bill.
From 1st April 2005 there are two multipliers, the standard multiplier and the lower multiplier for small businesses.
The Government normally changes the multiplier every year to move in line with inflation. The current multiplier will be shown on the front of your bill.
