Listed Buildings

What is a Listed Building?

A 'listed' building is a building which has been included in a statutory list of buildings of Special Architecture or Historic Interest prepared by the Department of Culture, Media & Sport following the recommendation of Inspectors from English Heritage. Requests to list a building or structure should be made to the Heritage Protection Team of English Heritage.as this is not a function of the District Council There are more than 1850 listed buildings within the Malvern Hills District which include churches, farm buildings and cottages to bridges, milestones telephone kiosks and gates. Further Advice and Information

District Council officers are available to provide general information on listed building legislation, procedure and Local Plan policy, and general  advice on the  repair and maintenance of listed buildings. Advice on proposed demolition, extensions or alterations submitted for Listed Building Consent is given by Officers without prejudice to the determination of any future listed building consent application by the Council's Elected Members.
