This sets out the housing position for Malvern Hills District.  Sites detailed represent the housing sites with the benefit of planning permission which have been completed since 1996, are under construction or remain outstanding.  Reviewed and published annually.

This sets out the empoyment land position for Malvern Hills District.  Sites detailed represent employment land with the benefit of planning permission which have been completed since 1996, are under construction or remain outstanding.  Reviewed and published annually.

Stategic Housing Land Availability Assessment
The Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) is a joint report produced by the three Local Authorities of Malvern Hills District Council, Worcester City Council and Wychavon District Council. It provides background evidence on the potential supply of housing land and sites in South Worcestershire.  It is a technical report and does not allocate sites for development. The report will be updated annually as more evidence on sites and their availability comes forward.

A hard copy of theSHLAA report is also available for reference in Customer Service Centres in Worcester, Droitwich Spa, Evesham, Pershore, Malvern, Tenbury Wells and Upton-upon-Severn.

Should you wish to purchase ahard copy of the SHLAAit is available in the following formats:

  • The whole report, includingappendices, maps and postage- £35.
  • Appendix 4 - an A0 map showingthe indicative location of all sites considered within South Worcestershire -£7.50 + £1 postage and packaging
  • An A2 mapshowingWorcester, Whittington and Strategic Sites- £4.50 + 50p postage and packaging

Study of need for affordable housing within the District.

Urban Capacity Study (October 2004)
Establishes how much additional housing can be accommodated within urban areas.

Open Space in Malvern, Tenbury and Upton (January 2004)
Study of outdoor playing space provision in Malvern, Tenbury and Upton.

Malvern Urban Greenspace Study (May 2003)
Identifies greenspaces in and around Malvern that should be protected for their individual and strategic value to Malvern.  Linked to Policy QL2 in the emerging Malvern Hills District Local Plan.

MHDC Shopping Study (February 2002)
Assesses the need for additional retail floor space within the District over the period to 2011 and includes audits of the vitality and viability of the main shopping centres (Great Malvern, Malvern Link, Barnards Green, Upton upon Severn and Tenbury).

Village Facilities Survey and Public Transport Study (January 2002)
Examines the sustainability of rural settlements having regard to the availability of services and facilities and the provision of public transport.
