Building Control
Malvern Hills Building Control Service is responsible for Building Regulations in the district, which exist principally to ensure the health and safety of people in and around buildings. The regulations apply to most new buildings and many alterations of existing buildings, whether domestic, commercial or industrial.
Building Regulations promote: |
 |
- Standards for most aspects of a building’s construction, including its structure, fire safety, sound insulation, drainage, ventilation and electrical safety.
- Energy efficiency in buildings which help to combat climate change.
- The needs of all people including those with disabilities. They set standards for buildings to be accessible and hazard-free wherever possible.
The Building Control Service is also responsible for dangerous structures and the control of demolition.
Increase in Building Regulation application charges- 1st April 2009
Regulations require that local authorities set charges with the aim of recovering the costs of carrying out their Building Control service.
Unfortunately it has become necessary to review our charges and it has been decided that an increase in charges will take effect on 1st April 2009.
