DISABLED FACILITIES GRANTS

(Maximum grant of £25,000)

Available for works to assist disabled people to live comfortably in their homes:

• Stairlifts
• Shower facilities
• Ramps
• Ground floor facilities etc

Applications are given priority.

Grants are means tested and subject to support from an Occupational Therapist and the Social Services Department.

In 2004/05 27 grants were completed and £117,000 was paid.

The government wants to create an Office for Disability Issues - a new body to co-ordinate disabled people's interests. The government also wants to set up a National Forum for Organisations of Disabled People.
