Training, Health Education and Promotions

One of the most effective ways of controlling risks arising from work or food businesses is by training /educating those involved such as employers, employees and food handlers. The legislation, codes of practice and guidance issued by the government endorse this view.

The Commercial Team is able to offer both food safety and health and safety courses to ensure adequate training has been undertaken.

National and local promotions, such as the National No Smoking Day, Active for Life, and National Food Safety Week are participated in. We also work with other agencies such as the Health Authority and other Local Authorities to co-ordinate promotions.

Heartbeat Awards are issued to food premises which attain high standards of healthy eating options on their menus.
