Construction activities are inherently noisy, often taking place in areas which are normally quiet.

Section 60 of The Control of Pollution Act 1974 provides for a local authority the power to serve a notice which imposes requirements upon a developer to undertake the work in a prescribed manner.

Similarly under section 61 of the act a developer can apply in advance of works being carried out to a local authority for consent to adopt proposed methods including type of equipment, procedures and hours of working.
