What is a School Sports Partnership?

A school sports partnership is responsible for the coordination of school sport under the Governments PESSCL (Physical Education (PE), School Sport and Club Links) initiative. The aim of the School Sports Partnership, in partnership with a local authority, is to increase participation and give all young people access to 5 hours of sport and physical activity by 2011. The 5-hour offer will create opportunities for children to take part in 2 hours of PE within curriculum time and a further 3 hours sport and physical activity outside of school hours.
