Sportivate
Sportivate provides a great opporutnity for 14-25 year
olds to have a go at a new sport, and then carry on
participating at a local high qulaity club or
facility.
Background to Sportivate
Sportivate is Sport England's new national
initiative developed to encourage 14-25 year olds to take part in 6
weeks of activity.
The programme is part of Sport England's mass participation
legacy programme called
Places, People, Play aimed at establishing a lasting legacy
from 2012.
The aim is for 300,000 participants between 2011-2015
to complete weekly coaching sessions with 120,000 carrying on
playing sport regularly.
The programme will target people who are not currently
choosing to participate in sport regularly or only for a
limited amount of time.
The key aspects of Sportivate are:
- There must be a clear demand for an
activity/project.
- All activities/projects must link to a sustainable exit
route. This can be through a community club, casual
participation or through leisure membership.
- Participants must attend 5 out of 6
sessions.
