Clubmark and Club Accreditation
Recognising High Quality, Safe, Effective and Child
Friendly Clubs
Sport England works in partnership with National Governing
Bodies of Sport, County Sports
Partnerships and local authorities to develop and
improve the standards of sports clubs working with children and
young people
What is Clubmark?
Clubmark is a
cross cutting accreditation scheme introduced by Sport England
in partnership with National Governing Bodies (NGB) to publicly
reward and recognise the work of clubs committed to providing
a safe, effective and child-friendly environment.
Clubmark accreditation is awarded to clubs that comply with
minimum operating standards in four areas:
- The playing
programme
-
Duty of care and safeguarding and protecting children and
young people
- Sports
equity and ethics
- Club
management
What are the benefits of achieving or working towards the
Clubmark status?
- A Clubmark club will become a priority club for its NGB i.e
receive additional funding and support
- Clubmark will assist a club in attracting and catering for new
young members
- All clubs that have achieved Clubmark will be promoted on the
Sports Partnership Website
- Clubs can often hire facilities at a subsidised rate
- Clubs will receive subsidised Coach Education courses
(www.morethansport.com/courses)
- Clubs can receive coaching bursaries of up to £150
- Clubs will be encouraged by schools to become a School-Club
link
- Clubs will be able to deliver Sport England funded Activities
for Local Authorities
How to Achieve Clubmark?
- There are 31 National Governing Bodies who run sport specific
quality accreditation schemes which all meet the criteria
laid out in Clubmark (see below).
- For clubs from those 31 sports, if you achieve your NGB quality
accreditation, you will automatically be awarded Clubmark.
- To register as 'Working Towards Clubmark'
simply contact your county or regional NGB development officer.
Click on your sports name below for contact details of
your sport specific development officer.
- Once you receive your resource pack, you can start collecting
the evidence against each criteria to prove you are a quality
sports club.
- If your sport has not yet developed a quality accreditation
scheme linked to Clubmark, you are still able to be recognised as a
high quality club
by applying for the 'Generic SPHW
Clubmark Accreditation'. This is awarded by the
The Sports Partnership Herefordshire and
Worcestershire and follows the same criteria as the
sports below.
