Health & Safety at work
Officers from the Council's Commercial Team carry out
routine inspections of premises in accordance with a priority risk
rated programme and investigate complaints or accident reports
taking any necessary enforcement action. Options available to them
include the service of notices requiring work to be carried out,
prohibition of activities or recommending prosecution.

Sampling of private water supplies and spring water
Sampling of private water supplies from springs and wells is
carried out by the Environment Team on a regular basis, the actual
frequency depending on the category of the supply. This can be as
frequent as once a month to as infrequent as once every five
years.
In addition to the work carried out above, the Environment Team
also takes monthly samples from various public water spouts in
Malvern town. The results (see below) are colour-coded to indicate
whether or not they comply with the requirements of the Private
Water Supply Regulations 1991.

Industrial
Pollution - Integrated Pollution control
Malvern Hills District Council controls the emissions to air of
a number of industrial processes under the terms of The
Environmental Permitting Regulations 2007. The Council is able to
apply a set of conditions based on the use of "best available
technique" which balances the cost to the operator against the
benefit to the environment. This system is known as Integrated
Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC) and aims to prevent
emissions, pollution and waste production and when this is not
practical, reduce them to acceptable levels.
